Chad W. Young ’13 Scholarship Application

The Chad W. Young ’13 Scholarship is established by the Chad W. Young Foundation. Chad William Young was both a scholar and an athlete, and he believed that anything worth achieving was worth working for. He applied this philosophy to both his studies and his training with equal vigor.
Chad graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas in the Class of 2013 and was enrolled as a mechanical engineering major at the Colorado School of Mines. He was also a professional cyclist with the Axeon Hagens Berman team.
Chad passed away on April 28, 2017, and this scholarship is intended to honor his legacy.
PURPOSE AND AWARD CRITERIA – The scholarship is established for the purpose of providing financial aid in the form of scholarship awards to students enrolled at St. Thomas Aquinas.
In selecting the recipients of scholarship awards, preference shall be given to:
a) Minimum STA GPA of 3.5 or greater
b) Merit-based award
c) Students enrolled and pursuing French as a second language.
d) Recipient will demonstrate a strong academic standing at St. Thomas Aquinas
and exhibits achievement in sports, arts, or community service.
e) One-year award.
f) Applicants will provide an essay that addresses the following topic:
What are you passionate about? What is the one thing that you are most excited to get to do each day? Of the many interests that you have, which is the one or two that brings you the most joy or you feel you have the greatest impact? Please tell us about this interest.
