Dear Members of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Community,
It is our great pleasure to announce that the Search Committee has unanimously selected Mr. Dan S. Soller as St. Thomas Aquinas High School’s new Head of School. Mr. Soller’s appointment will be effective on February 1, 2020.
During this eight-month national search for a Head of School, we defined the characteristics and experience a candidate would need to effectively lead St. Thomas Aquinas High School. This led us to seek an individual with a proven track record of success, one who would be a dynamic and inspiring leader, one who will model the energy, professionalism, spirituality and high aspirations of our school while building on St. Thomas’ 60 year tradition and Catholic foundation.
At the end of October, the Search Committee brought four of the most experienced and talented candidates to our campus to continue the interview process with the Search Committee and to meet with the Advisory Board, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, clergy, and students. At the conclusion of this very rigorous and comprehensive process, it was the unanimous decision that Mr. Soller is the best candidate to serve as St. Thomas Aquinas’ next Head of School.
Mr. Soller comes to us from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As Chief Student Affairs Officer, he was responsible for shared institutional governance over many areas including Athletics, Campus Life, Campus Ministries, Counseling, Dining Services and Student Government. Mr. Soller has demonstrated many successful years of progressive executive experience in education with exceptional and proven skills in culture building, community relations, financial management, fundraising and governance to name but a few. He knows best practice approaches to overseeing and empowering groups across all aspects of high performing school programs.
Mr. Soller describes himself as a “joyful and vibrant Catholic” who thoroughly enjoys the high school age group and is excited about St. Thomas’ opportunity to deliver an incredible experience to our students that will benefit them throughout their lives. He believes that “excellence honors God and inspires people.” He brings passion for positive transformation by building on the past and working to improve in all areas. “I believe in benchmarks and striving to surpass those benchmarks. I believe in creating opportunities. And I believe that prayer is always good.”
Before his current position at the University of St Francis, Mr. Soller was the Special Assistant to the President and Director of Athletics at Saint John’s Catholic Preparatory School in Frederick, MD and, prior, spent over a decade as the Executive Vice President of Mount St. Mary’s University also in Maryland. He will be relocating to New Hampshire with his wife, Jennifer, and their 13-year-old daughter, Addison.
Dan is one of the most qualified Catholic educational leaders in the nation. We are extremely fortunate to have him lead St. Thomas Aquinas High School into a new era guided by his Catholic faith, his allegiance to tradition, and the timeless St. Thomas Aquinas High School mission.
St. Thomas Aquinas High School is a caring community, transforming the lives of students through a rigorous Catholic education, guided by the light of the Gospel – developing their unique gifts, strengthening their personal faith and integrity, and fostering within them a commitment to justice, service, and moral leadership.
