Saints Shine at the 4th Annual All-Star Sports Awards show!

The event may not have been held in Portsmouth’s Music Hall but the lights still shone very brightly on our Saints on Thursday, June 18th during the 4th Annual All-Star Sports Awards Show!

Among the many talented youth around the Seacoast, St. Thomas Aquinas High School students Owen Himmer and (brother-sister phenoms) Max and Megan Reich were honored in their respective sports.  An added exclamation point to this year’s event was the announcement of our STA’s incoming principal, Paul Marquis, as Boys Coach of the Year by Bill Belichick!

Congratulations to Mr. Marquis and to our three All-Stars!

CO-GOLFER OF THE YEAR

Owen Himmer, Senior

Himmer captured the NHIAA Division II individual championship, shooting 5-over par 77 at Beaver Meadow GC. Rivers carded the same score — 5-over par 77 — and won the Maine Class B state individual golf championship at Natanis GC.

GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Megan Reich, Sophomore

Reich swam to a pair of individual titles in state-record fashion at the Division II championships. Her time broke a 200-yard freestyle record that had stood since 1995. She set another state record in the grueling 500 freestyle, edging a mark that had stood since 1996. Reich also earned medals in the 200 free relay, placing fourth, and the 200 medley relay, placing runner-up.

BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Max Reich, Senior

Megan’s older brother, Max capped his high school career with three more Division II swimming titles, including a new state record time in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Indiana University commit won the 100 freestyle and also helped STA capture the 200 medley relay title. He qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials in two events.
