It's not every day that one qualifies for the Olympic Trials in two events - unless your STA rising senior, Max Reich.
While competing in the Speedo Junior Nationals at Stanford University last week, Max (from North Hampton) qualified for the Olympic Trials. While he had previously qualified for the Trials in the 200 breaststroke, Max attained another personal goal when he took more than a second off his previous best time in the 100 breaststroke at Phillips 66 Nationals, swimming the race in 1 minute, 2.80 seconds; the qualifying standard is 1:03.29.
“It definitely feels real good,” said Max. “Over the course of the entire season, we’ve been working on my speed in the 100. To have that pay off feels great.”
In less than a month, Max will be back walking the hallways of St. Thomas Aquinas alongside his classmates. Having already committed to Indiana University, Max will focus on continuing his top marks, celebrating his final year of high school, serving as one of STA's top Student Ambassadors, and carrying Saints Pride forward with his trademark humility.
