Principal's Corner
There is little to say at this point from this Principal except how much I have thoroughly enjoyed working with your children and how honored I have been to be their Principal. St. Thomas is a very special place and it comes from the people who are members of that community.
It is my dream that St. Thomas will celebrate its 50th Jubilee (2010-11) by realizing the many exciting plans for the future of this truly special community. Your children make it special, the teachers make it special, and all who work so diligently and give of their time to strengthen our community make St. Thomas a special place to spend four very important years as a young adult.
I am grateful to have had a part in the school becoming stronger and healthier. Ron Holtz will be acting Principal until a final selection for a new principal has been made. He will certainly carry forth the tradition and mission of the school.
God bless you and your families,
Jeffrey A. Quinn

Summer Construction STA will have construction going on during the summer and, as a result, access to the building may be tricky during some weeks. If you need access to the building, call ahead or check the school's website for information as to how and where to enter the building and where to find office staff during the various phases of the project.
Summer Hours The STA Office is closed on Fridays from July 4 through August 8. Summer Office hours are from 8:00am until 3:00pm
Lockers All students will be assigned a book locker. The attendance office is accepting written requests for top lockers until August 7. Address requests to Mrs. Chabot.
2008-9 Calendar The one page version of the 2008-9 school calendar is available on the Forms and Info Page of the school website.
New Parking Stickers Families are urged to use public transportation and to carpool whenever possible. However, all juniors and seniors who must drive to school are required to have a new 2008-2009 St. Thomas sticker. Each vehicle must have its own sticker; the cost is $75.00 per vehicle. A new application must be completed and signed by parent and student. Stickers will be available in the office during July and August during summer office hours. New stickers will be required to park on the first day of school.

Softball will be slow pitch, "one pitch" per at-bat, teams will be coed, and games will be three innings - a round robin format to keep games moving along and in good fun! All ages welcome! Sign up as a team or individually. For more information email Sarah Scheffer.
National Honor Society Requirements Each fall the Bishop Primeau Chapter of the National Honor Society at St. Thomas Aquinas inducts new members. High standards of excellence are required of students who are elected. Election to the National Honor Society requires students to document their development in the areas of scholarship, character, service, and leadership. A junior or senior student with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher has met the scholarship requirement and is automatically nominated and invited by letter to submit an application.
Students must then document growth in character, service, and leadership as follows: Student applications are evaluated by a faculty committee representing each academic department. The committee will recommend students for election to NHS. Parents or students interested in more information about the National Honor Society should visit the NHS pages of the St. Thomas website and/or contact Mr. Quimby, NHS moderator. Families should recognize and discuss the fact that, although nomination and selection occur in the junior and senior year, performance, conduct, service, involvement and over-all effort during freshman and sophomore years will serve as the primary bases for selection. Travel Opportunity for Parents Mary Chamberlain, STA French teacher, will be hosting an adult tour (21 and over) of the wine areas in France on July 1-10, 2009. If you are interested and would like more information, please e-mail Mme. Chamberlain.

Reunion Day Mass Please Join Us June 21, 2008 at 10:30am for a Reunion day Mass with Celebrant Fr. Damien Ledoux. We will recognize Principal Jeff Quinn as he retires for his many years of service to St. Thomas, and host a reception that will follow the Mass. All members of the St. Thomas community and their families are welcome to attend. All planned Reunion Day activities (tours, alumni softball tournament) will go on as scheduled.
Aquinas Fund we have just over 900 donors toward our goal of 1000 participants to this year's Aquinas Fund Campaign. We are confident that we'll pass the mark and need your help to do so. There are still a few weeks to get your gift in. Mail to the school or online at www.stalux.org/giving.
Golf Open The 23rd Annual Golf Open at the Portsmouth Country Club is Friday, September 19th. SAVE THE DATE! We will be mailing an invitation to register golfers later this summer. If you would like to sponsor the event or donate a raffle or auction item to the event, please complete this form and return it to school by August 1st. Transcripts Final transcripts for the Class of 2008 (including proof of graduation) were mailed to colleges on Wednesday, June 11. For underclass students, an unofficial transcript and a report card will be mailed to all families not later than June 27th. Counselors feel that it is useful for students and parents to see academic progress to date as it is represented on the St. Thomas transcript. This may help you with early college planning or academic goals for the coming year. 2008-09 Schedules 2008-09 Schedules have been distributed to all students. It is important to note that these schedules are tentative. Should changes have to be made to the master schedule over the summer, student schedules will change as well. Final schedules will be distributed on the first day of school in August.CAST
