Congratulations to the STA Baseball team, which won its State Championship game, defeating Lebanon 4-3 in a hard-fought, extra-inning walk-off win.
In its third D-II Championship appearance in four years, and in a game that involved several lead changes, Jordan Bean pitched nine solid innings, and was relieved by Craig Teed, who held the Lebanon Raiders scoreless for Josh Terry's shallow fly ball with the bases loaded in the 10th, to score Arran Maran. (
Writeup at Fosters) The victory capped off a season in which the Saints achieved a 19-1 record and a #1 playoff seed, including an historic streak-snapping win against Portsmouth at home, and honored a Gatorade Player of the Year in Jordan Bean.
The Championship game, one of the last school events of the year, was well-attended by students, parents, and community members, who cheered on the Saints throughout the game. Overall, it was a phenomenal finish to the year, both for the STA Baseball Team, which worked towards this Championship for four years, and for the entire community, which gained its ninth Champion/Finalist trophy for the 2011-12 year.
Congratulations to the STA Baseball Team - players, coaches, and parents - from a proud school!
