England Trip A Success

April 30, 2008

During April break, 22 students, four teachers and one parent traveled to "Merrie Olde England" to visit the countryside and tour London. From Stonehenge to Picadilly Circus, our intrepid travelers took in the sights and explored what the UK has to offer. Highlights of the tour included three nights at the theater: "The 39 Steps," "Wicked" and "Les Miserables." In addition, the group had the opportunity to work with professional actors in a theatre workshop at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and to visit both the National and the Globe Theaters.

However, the stage isn't the only attraction offered by our cousins across the sea -- the group was treated to a spectacular nighttime view of the Thames when they rode on the London Eye, a huge ferris wheel situated on the riverbank. And there was time for shopping as well, including a stop at London's legendary Harrod's and that 1960's icon of fashion, Carnaby Street.

And, oh yes, there were cathedrals, museums and catacombs...what would an STA tour be without experiencing the history? But more on that some other time!

There are some pictures of the trip available on the school's blog.
