Top Catholic High School in the Seacoast Region

High school is one of the most transformational journeys that your teen will experience. During these four years, they’ll learn to balance schoolwork, handle personal responsibilities, and embrace challenges that will inevitably bring them growth.

You want to choose a learning environment that will foster your teen’s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. As the top private high school in the Seacoast Region, St. Thomas Aquinas takes pride in emphasizing a balanced approach to education. Ultimately, our goal is to prepare students for a life of impact and purpose — guided by Catholic values.

Admission Process

We are excited that you’re applying, and we want to make the admission process as easy as possible for you and your family. Just follow these four simple steps.

Step 1: Complete the admission application online

  • Head to our Admission Application Portal and create an account by following the instructions on the page. This step is necessary whether you are entering as a 9th grader or will be a transfer student.
  • The deadlines for submissions are as follows: Early Action (Nov. 1 – students are notified by Dec. 15) and Regular Decision (Jan. 15 – students are notified by Feb. 15). All applications submitted after Jan. 15 will be reviewed as they are received.
  • An application fee of $40 will be collected once you’ve completed the form.

Step 2: Submit references or letters of recommendation

  • Recommendations are an integral part of the application process.
  • Provide a reference or letter of recommendation from the student’s English teacher, math teacher, and guidance counselor.
  • You will fill in the teachers’ names and email addresses, and an email will be sent for them to complete the recommendation form.

Step 3: Request official transcripts from your counselor

  • Please inquire about your official transcripts from the past three years and have your counselor send them to admission@stalux.org.

Step 4: Submit your SSAT or HSPT results (optional)

  • We are a test-optional school, but students can submit SSAT and HSPT examination results for consideration at admission@stalux.org.
  • The SSAT can be taken in-person at a Prometric testing center. To find the nearest location, please visit the SSAT website.
  • Alternatively, the SSAT is also offered in a remote-proctoring, online format that can be taken at home.

Step 5: Submit FACTS Financial Assistance Application

“Last year, our oldest son entered 8th grade. We discussed with him that we could not afford to send him to St. Thomas Aquinas, which was understandably upsetting to him as all of his friends planned to go to STA. He understood but was disappointed. I contacted STA admissions and asked that he be removed from the email list because we could not afford the tuition. In a very kind and respectful manner, I was told that we should not let financial status stop our son from applying. I was immediately connected with the financial aid department, which worked with me in just a few days to see if we would qualify for enough aid. And we did. It was the happiest news I could have ever given my son! He is now comfortably settled into his Freshman year at STA. Had I not contacted the school about the emails, I would not have been guided to take the steps we did to comfortably tell our son he could apply! My advice to all families is to not be afraid to ask questions! You will never be certain until you do.”
