English

The English Department of St. Thomas Aquinas High School recognizes that the creative arts of literature, art and music are, ultimately, a celebration of the human experience. When students recognize themselves in great works of literature, art and music, they become more aware of themselves and their relationships with God, with others, and with society. By developing their communication skills and deepening their awareness of the power of language and ideas, of their literary and artistic heritage, our students can achieve self-definition as articulate, discriminating, aware, and caring adults.

Two additional one-semester English electives are offered: Contemporary American Studies and Public Speaking.

All students are required to purchase a copy of Writers INC at the St. Thomas Bookstore during the freshman year. All major papers are expected to follow the MLA documentation style found in Writers INC.
